On the subject of the foods that you purchase, you may not realize it, but they can have a negative impact on the earth. You’ve probably never even thought about this although the foods you buy can actually impact our planet. Another thing you may not recognize is that these foods can also have more than one unfavorable effect on our planet. Therefore we have decided to go over a few the negative effects that can be produced by buying certain foods.
You need to realize that most of the food which you buy in the food markets has been shipped from all over the United States. Of course there may also be food that’s been imported from Canada, Mexico and other countries. And particularly if the foods are coming from other countries the quantities of fuel needed to get them to our stores can be astronomical. In the first place the farmers need to send the food to centers for distribution, and this calls for the use of trucks that use fuel. At the distribution center the food items are going to be inspected then it will leave the center on an alternative truck and go to the warehouse that stocks the particular grocery store supplies. And more fuel is needed again for the trucks to be able to deliver this food. The food is then packed on the trucks for one more trip and the food winds up getting brought to our local shopping stores. This can be a lot of fuel being burned which also leads to a great deal of pollution being released into our atmosphere.
Although this is of course harmful to the atmosphere, there is one other way we are contributing to the pollution of our planet. The actual farmers who are growing our food are using different chemicals on the food to help insure a good harvest. Chemical fertilizers are not the only hazard as these farmers may also be using other chemical substances for the purpose of making sure the crops they are growing are going to be as big as possible. So when it comes to the application of these types of various chemicals you will find that traditionally they will be sprayed on the plants, resulting in the pollutants to end up not only in our soil but also in our air. Although some will argue that the foods can easily be washed off, what about the chemical compounds that seep into the foods?
You may well already know this but these fertilizers aren’t the only chemical that ends up in our foods, in our atmosphere and in the soil. A large number of farms will also use chemical pesticides or herbicides to kill bugs that may negatively effect their crop. Not to mention these pesticides will also be sprayed on, once more, harming our air and our soil. Something different I should explain is that these pesticides are poisons that are sprayed right on the food we eat. And while the government states these foods that are fine to eat, the fact that they had poison sprayed on them, tends to make me wonder.
Needless to say if you end up getting organically grown foods from local farmers, you will be having a positive effect on the planet. You will really be decreasing the amount of food that needs to be trucked in. Additionally by making sure that all the food you purchase is organic you will not only be helping your state of health, but you will be helping by not adding to the farmers which are using these chemicals. If you find that the health of the earth and your own health matter to you, you can easily improve both by simply shopping a bit smarter. Organic food that is locally grown will not only help our planet but your health as well
Although it is a fact that people have to eat, we do have the choice on the types of foods eat. The problem is that most people don’t think that the food they eat can be impacting our planet. However, the foods we eat can be having a negative effect on our planet in more than one way. In this article we will be explaining how common foods that you buy in a grocery store can be hurting our planet.
You must realize that most of the food that you buy in the grocery stores has been shipped from all over the United States. You should also know that we also have food imported from countries from all over the world. You must also realize that the further away the food is, the more fuel it is going to take to get this food to our grocery stores. To begin with the farmers have to send the food to centers for distribution, and this requires the use of trucks that use fuel. Then once the food has passed inspection, it will be transported to the various grocery store distribution centers. And more fuel is used again for the trucks to be able to deliver this food. Now the food has almost ended it journey, the last thing to do is to load up new trucks with this food and ship it to the stores. And as you already know this goes back to trucks burning even more fuel.
While this is of course bad for the atmosphere, there is another way we are contributing to the pollution of our planet. The farmers that are growing our food are using various chemicals on the food to help insure a good harvest. Chemical fertilizers are not the only hazard as these farmers will also be using other chemicals for the purpose of making sure the crops they are growing will be as big as possible. These chemicals are typically sprayed on which ends up polluting our air and our soil. While some will argue that the foods can simply be washed off, what about the chemicals that seep into the foods?
But it doesn’t end with the different types of chemical fertilizers as other chemicals are also sprayed on our foods. You will find that farmers will also use poison (chemical pesticides) to keep bugs from ruining their crops. And of course these pesticides will also be sprayed on, again, polluting our air and our soil. These farmers will also cover the actual foods we are planning on eating in these poisons and other chemicals.. And while the government says these foods that are OK to eat, the fact that they had poison sprayed on them, makes me wonder.
Of course if you end up buying organically grown foods from local farmers, you will be having a positive effect on the planet. This will allow you to actually make a difference in the pollution from the trucking industry because that will be just a little bit less that they need to deliver. And because this food that you buy which is organic, will not have any chemical pesticides or fertilizers sprayed on them, you will actually be helping to reduce the amount of pollution even more. So for anyone who really wants to make a positive change for the planet and their health, locally grown organic food is the answer.
